Port Dickson’s 5-star RM1.6 billion development is coming
I was asking my daughter just a few days ago about two choices for a short holiday. Since young, she has been to many place and when I asked her to choose between Melaka or Port Dickson, she said Port Dickson. She has been to both places maybe 5 times each at least. She’s 11 this year. I would favour Melaka because of food choices but she loves the beach more.
She loves to do nothing much but rushing to the sea, building sand castles, catch small crabs and keep repeating the same thing until I say, ‘time to leave.’ I know… Melaka has Klebang beach but… that’s not a real beach. Then, today I read about this piece of news about an extension of a 5-star resort brand in Port Dickson.
Article in theedgemalaysia.com. The prestigious five-star Lexis Hibiscus 2 luxury resort is currently under construction by the KL Metro Group and is expected to be completed by 2029, said Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
He said the construction of the 32.37-hectare resort, which has a gross development value (GDV) of RM1.6 billion, is a strategic collaboration between KL Metro Group and Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan Incorporated.
“The construction has provided 5,000 job opportunities to locals and will also contribute towards enhancing the state’s tourism sector.
“The resort’s completion will see Lexis Hibiscus 2 as the largest water home development in the world,” the menteri besar said at the resort’s groundbreaking ceremony in Sungai Menyala, here Friday. Do read the article in full here: Article in theedgemalaysia.com.
The real issue is always connectivity and also marketing activity
When I am in Melaka, I can see Singapore registered cars all the time. I have also heard of Singaporeans loving to visit Melaka. However, I seldom hear of Singaporeans saying they love to visit Port Dickson on the same level as Melaka.
Why? Well, Melaka is more famous for food… for the cultural stuffs… for UNESCO Heritage City… for sights and sounds… it has everything which everyone is looking for including lots of nice places to stay. Also a few theme parks and also the Freeport A’Famosa Outlet too. Image below showing their Coach outlet which is inside an aeroplane. 🙂

Perhaps it’s time that Port Dickson really do a comprehensive marketing and ensure the visibility of Port Dickson is increased tremendously. For example… some delicious food which I have eaten and agree it’s good! Here one good site for all the must-eat food. https://sgmytrips.com/port-dickson-food/

Another one which I have tried before and it’s delicious. Weng Yin

Beyond just good food, there’s also another pretty good attraction. It’s not possible to use such a good space to do a maze in Singapore. It will be just too expensive and the entrance ticket is likely to be prohibitive too. It’s possible to do so in Port Dickson and this is why I think it’s worth a visit plus many good photos too.

Yes, the reason why my daughter prefers Port Dickson over Melaka is because it has proper beaches. This is one of it. Blue Lagoon beach.

Another place which tells us how a huge piece of land could be turned into place for relaxation and leisure. Not possible to do in Singapore as well. Port Dickson Golf & Country Club.

As a start, I think it’s time that Port Dickson has a proper site with all the amazing places to visit, things to eat and all the must-do, must-visit, must-enjoy list of things too. Here’s just a few of the things which Melaka is doing much better. Take a look at just the number of followers for the FB page…

All the best yeah Port Dickson. My daughter also chose you over Melaka but she can only influence 4 people to visit you once every year. You need a lot more supporters to do more. As a start, engage all the ones who love you to do something together yeah. By the way, driving into Port Dickson from Singapore is very easy too when we are comparing it to Melaka.
Take a look at the actual comparison. Actual duration is 46 minutes. I think it’s acceptable lah. Visit Melaka first trip but the next trip can be Port Dickson versus every time also Melaka, Melaka, Melaka.

All the best to the authority who wants to do better in promoting Port Dickson. Don’t look too far yeah. Start with Singapore if we are thinking of foreign tourists. Else, time to redouble the effort to attract KLites too.
