HSR’s Joint Development Partner is awarded.

More than three countries are vying to be the technology provider for the High Speed Rail (HSR) KL – SG. Latest one indicating their interest was South Korea. I have no access to the decision makers but I am pro-Asian companies. 🙂 As for which country, I think………. ‘Let the best bid wins.’ Yes, the winner definitely would have to provide attractive financing options as well because the cost is going to be exorbitant. There is another significant progress for the High Speed Rail KL – SG.  Full article in NST here. The Joint Development Partner (JDP) has been announced by MyHSR Corp Sdn Bhd and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore. From 8 bids received last year, it has been awarded to the consortium of WSP Engineering Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Mott MacDonald Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Ernst & Young Advisory Services Sdn Bhd.
According to a joint statement by MyHSR and LTA, the JDP will provide project management support and technical advice on HSR systems and operations. The JDP will also develop the technical and safety standards to be adopted for the project.  MyHSR chief executive officer Mohd Nur Ismal Mohamed Kamal said, “Following the commitment of the two governments through the Bilateral Agreement signing, the JDP appointment marks the start of a challenging yet exciting journey to bring the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore HSR project to reality.”  (This is very true. Now the JDP can start working because they would already have timelines to meet.) An earlier article about HSR here: MyHSR Corp: Freeze! Can’t sell
LTA chief executive Ngien Hoon Ping said, “Together with the advanced engineering study contract awarded earlier by LTA to carry out engineering studies for the Singapore stretch of the HSR, these two developments mark the next chapter in our journey to deliver the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore HSR project, targeted by end- 2026.”  (Yes, the date is still the same and it is close to 10 years away. So please do not buy projects simply because of this HSR. better buy for other reasons) Another earlier article here:  HSR KL – SG: Taking steps in the right direction  I think some may be interested in an even longer line instead of just KL – SG. Yes, the equation of Bangkok – KL – SG. Here: When three becomes one: Thailand – KL – Singapore HSR  Happy following and I wish them a smooth progress.
