Sabah-MM2H is now under Sabah state government. What are the changes?

My wish is for MM2H to do well. Whether it’s federal government’s MM2H or the Sarawak MM2H or the Sabah MM2H programs. There were some ‘miscommunication’ between the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture and Sabah’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment about MM2H some time back. For the sake of Sabah’s MM2H programme, I think it’s best to let the state handle it themselves as they are nearer to the ground. The foreigners are also moving into Sabah state anyway, right?

Article in borneopost.com Sabah’s Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment (KePKAS) Minister Datuk Christina Liew said with the delegation of authority for the appointment of state agents, the Sabah-MM2H programme will be under the management of KePKAS.

“This delegation of power refers to the appointment of agents by KePKAS, monitoring of the agents, and enforcement of the programme. KePKAS has its own guidelines for the appointment and issuance of licence to the agents.

“These agents need to obtain a licence to operate and assist clients in applying for participation in Sabah-MM2H.

“We (KePKAS) are in the process of accepting and processing the applications of qualified agents for the necessary appointments,” Liew added.

The Sabah-MM2H programme was approved in principle by the State Government in February 2023, and officially launched on June 30 this year. Article in borneopost.com

Sabah is another state I love a lot!

My wife’s a Sabahan. I remember the days when I needed to bring my passport in order to enter Sabah! These days, just an IC would do. My first property in Sabah was a small apartment in Kota Kinabalu. Today it gives an amazing ROI but the price have not moved a lot due to the type. I love Tuaran mee and the first time I had it, I ordered a second plate!

They have seafood ba kut teh as well. Haha. Seafood is super fresh and they do NOT eat Siakap yeah. Their minimum standard is Garoupa. (Sek Pan). I have climbed Mount Kinabalu twice. On average I fly to Sabah no less than once per year ever since we got married and years before that. This is why if there are good news for Sabah, I shall write about it.

If you are thinking of Sabah’s MM2H, go and visit. Travel around, eat the food, feel the culture, it’s definitely a place many would love to call home.
