Over 100,000 train tickets are sold for the Deepevali period. Perhaps less traffic jam?

One main issue we have during a public holiday is traffic jam. Everyone wants to drive home or to somewhere because many times, the government would declare that the expressway will be free for that few days. So, it’s not just the trunk roads which will be full of cars. The expressways are also full of cars and this is true even if there are people who are willing to pay in order not to face traffic jams. I think that was the reason why expressways were built in the first place… right?

Well, here is a piece of good news. Maybe, just maybe we would have fewer cars on the road during the upcoming Deepavali? Reason I say so? Well, over 100,000 train tickets have been sold and this 100,000 is an increase of 70 percent versus last year! In other words, even more people would be taking the trains this year after the high increase in the number of available tickets. I would love to assume that 100,000 people taking the train meant at least 30,000 fewer cars on the road during the holiday period? Read on about the news.

Article in malaymail.com. Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has recorded the sale of 100,304 tickets for its Electric Train Service (ETS) and EMUPlus services for the Deepavali period, covering travel dates from November 5 to November 10.

KTMB group chief executive officer Datuk Azlan Shah Al Bakri said the high demand reflects a positive public response to the rail services during the festive season.

He noted that the seating capacity offered has increased by 70 per cent compared to the same festive period last year. Please do read the full article here: Article in malaymail.com

Frankly, if we try to buy with less than one week to the date we wanted, chances are we will fail. I have failed on numerous occasions to buy because I left it to the final week before travel. So, do buy earlier and actually, the ticket is not just affordable but we will also be stress free, drivers would be tired-free and children? Well, children is free to walk around versus being strapped to the seat for hours. So, indeed there are many advantages and benefits of taking the train versus driving or taking the coach which is also affected by traffic jams too.

Safe travels all.
