Genting Highlands toll plaza latest update
Note – Header Photo is image from pexels.com and is not the Genting toll yeah. You can refer to news reports for the photo.
This was the earlier report: Property News Genting. Pay toll to go up? It was all over the media because not many people like to pay toll yeah. Especially if it’s going up to a hill which some went up just for fresh cold air and a cup of coffee. Well, I did went up once for a lunch. Usually I will go up once per quarter lah. I have children and many relatives and friends want to go up mah, so I accompany yeah. This year, I have gone up twice for concerts too. Coming back to the toll. Are we going to pay or are we not?
Article in nst.com.my Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) has stated that it does not have jurisdiction over the matter. They issued a statement stating the following:
The construction of the toll plaza is neither under the purview of MHA or the Works Ministry.
“(The) Ministry of Works and the Malaysian Highway Authority would like to clarify that this construction project does not fall under the jurisdiction of KKR/LLM (the ministry and MHA) because it is not a federal road.
“The road in question is a private road and is not related to the Kuala Lumpur – Karak toll highway (KL-Karak).”
MHA chairman Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias, said previously that the relevant parties might not have felt the need to make applications to the Pahang State Government, the Works Ministry or MHA.
“The land is privately owned, but any construction is still subject to the law. It should be emphasised that the construction of the toll plaza has no connection to MHA, and we have never received any applications related to the construction,” he said. What’s next I wonder
Just need to note that from all we read thus far, there is no need to apply for approval for the construction of the project from the Ministry of Works or the Malaysian Highway Authority because it is being built on a private land.
Earlier as reported, the Bentong Municipal Council (MPB) has issued a stop work order for the alleged construction of a toll gantry near Gohtong Jaya. Reason stated included: “The developer has to submit a building plan, planning permission and plan consisting details about the piping, and road layout but the submission was incomplete. No permission was given to build the gantry.” Do read the report here.
At the moment, I do not think we will be paying toll for this anytime soon. Perhaps need to see who would be the final decision maker for this issue. Let’s keep following.
