This is what World Health Organisation declared about Covid-19

Global Health Emergency NO MORE

I had just reached Kuala Lumpur after 2 weeks of Chinese New Year Holiday in 2020 when everyone was asked to stay inside our own home under the Movement Control Order (MCO). Later, the leader of the house is allowed to go out and buy groceries. After that, things slowly normalise and soon I brought my family for some staycations and after a very long time, we could finally go back to the hometown. Still, everything seemed so dangerous! My parents are no longer as healthy as when I was younger and I was worried all the time.

My whole family has been infected before and we are all very lucky as we have all been vaccinated and the effects are super mild. I hardly felt anything when i got Covid-19. Well, all these are finally coming to an end. This has just been announced by World Health Organisation (WHO).

Article in bbc.com The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared that Covid-19 no longer represents a “global health emergency”. This announcement came after 3 years. Officials said the virus’ death rate had dropped from a peak of more than 100,000 people per week in January 2021 to just over 3,500 on 24 April.

“Yesterday, the Emergency Committee met for the 15th time and recommended to me that I declare an end to the public health emergency of international concern. I’ve accepted that advice. It is therefore with great hope that I declare Covid-19 over as a global health emergency,” Dr Tedros said.

“The worst thing any country can do now is to use this news as a reason to let down its guard, to dismantle the systems it has built, or to send the message to its people that Covid-19 is nothing to worry about,” he said. Please do read the article in full here: Article in bbc.com

I am sure all of us have learnt something from Covid-19

I have learnt that people love to listen to rumours and believe it wholeheartedly without wanting to read all sides. It took me less than 5 minutes to register my wife and I for the Astra Zeneca vaccine. The reason? People were afraid that the vaccine was NOT good. They wanted to wait for the supposedly better one. The fact that over 20 million Britons have been vaccinated before it was offered in Malaysia was not even something people read. Anyway, the second batch of AZ vaccines saw so many people trying and trying and then many show their frustrations.

I have learnt that masks are always a good idea when I am not feeling well or when I am in a very crowded place. It reduces the chance of infection from me to others and others to me when at least I have a mask on. I have also learnt that it’s better to have some of these stocks at home versus only buying them when there’s any sudden need for it and the whole world is looking for it and not just me. This is the same for test kits too. It was impossible to get one for a while.
