Not enough autogates is GOOD news yeah

Not enough autogates is GOOD news yeah

Let’s ensure everyone needs just 10 minutes to complete the immigration procedure yeah

I have been to many countries, including those very advanced ones. Usually, the immigration would take 30 minutes if not more. As a Malaysian, I seldom need more than 5 minutes to pass the autogate and I also wish that every visitor to our country would take just 10 minutes to pass the immigration procedure.

I think it’s about time this is included into the standard operating procedures for all international airports in Malaysia. There is NO value add at all for people to stand in line for the immigration yeah. They have lost a lot of time which they could have used to buy something in the shops outside the immigration hall. 🙂 if you agree with my 10 minute suggestion, give me a high five!

Article in malaymail.com The Home Ministry (KDN) through the Immigration Department (JIM) will increase the number of new automatic gate systems (autogates) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA Terminals 1 and 2) and Penang to overcome congestion at the country’s entry points.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution said as many as 40 new autogates were added at KLIA Terminals 1 and 2 making the total number 80 while the additional facilities in Penang are being identified.

Previously, Saifuddin announced that visitors from another 36 low-risk countries would be allowed to use the autogate at all entry points in countries that have the facility effective June 1, 2024.

The facility involves all European Union (EU) countries, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Jordan, China, Canada, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Do read here for more details: Article in malaymail.com

Not just Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Penang. Kota Kinabalu and Kuching too, please.

I cannot find details of how many autogates we have currently but hey, it’s time we ensure all the major international gateways into Malaysia have the service of autogates. Make it so easy that everyone says how friendly it is when they visit Malaysia. We are ahead of many ASEAN countries but the target is to be the fastest, please. Whatever the fastest country (the one down south lah) is doing for the immigration process, we must benchmark and quickly overtake them.

Last year, we welcomed over 2 million international travellers every month. it’s time that we aim to double this number. Never mind that they say our numbers are mostly Singaporeans. If I have 4 million and all these people are spending their money in Malaysia and staying in hotels in Malaysia, I do not really mind whether Singaporeans or Thai. Just come and spend money here. 🙂 Malaysia is truly Asia yeah. No need to go to many different countries to experience Asia. Just come to Malaysia.

That’s why when someone asked me what’s my favourite food, I always ask them, “are you asking for my favourite Malay or Chinese or Indian food? Within the Malay, which part of Malaysia… within the Chinese, are you asking about Hokkien or Cantonese or Hakka? Within the Indians, are you saying the southern or the northern or even the fusion ones? Now, this is Malaysia! If you are reading this and you really want to visit just one country with everything, Malaysia is the only one yeah. Cheers.
