MM2H News: Positive Changes on the way

Yes, I do think MM2H participants are good contributors to the economy (property market too)

I would really prefer if the requirements for MM2H participant is that they MUST buy a property within a certain period of time. 🙂 If Malaysia is a second home and they have a place of their own, they will stay here far longer than other places. This will contribute more to the economy. Plus the usual type of properties they could buy would have been a different one from what the majority of the M40s could buy. So this helps the property market too. They can go and make Ipoh their home too. 🙂

Article in thestar.com.my Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing says that positive changes are coming soon for the revision of the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme.

He said, “It will be announced in mid-December after a thorough review.”

He said, “Pending the ironing out of some details, the changes will be positive, with the MM2H threshold set to see major adjustments.”

His ministry will be reviewing all agents involved in the MM2H programme and requiring them to re-register.

“The existing MM2H consultant agents will not get automatic recognition. Their backgrounds will be thoroughly checked, with unsuitable agents weeded out,” he said.

The ministry targets to attract between 10,000 and 15,000 MM2H applications and approvals next year, with a projected revenue of about RM11.25bil. Please refer to the full article here: Article in thestar.com.my

15,000 is indeed a very good number for 2024

15,000, each buying a property. WOW. 15,000, each staying in Malaysia for at least half of the year and spending money on food and travelling. Buying plane tickets. Going to famous restaurants. WOW. 15,000, each joining some activities on the ground, maybe Toastmasters, WOW. 15,000 participants buying just one car each. WOW. Now you know why I think MM2H programme is a very good contributor to the economy? Let’s hear the announcements soon!
