JB Sentral to KL Sentral via ETS? 30 percent discount for this new route!
JB Sentral and KL Sentral is now closer to one another
I heard the journey between JB Sentral and KL Sentral will be around 3.5 hours. So, it is now possible to finish breakfast in JB and enjoy lunch in KL followed by shopping in KL, sightseeing in KL, lots of good food in KL before staying the night and then a breakfast in KL before leaving for JB to have lunch. No need to drive. No need to feel tired. Yes, it’s possible to be cheaper by driving up with 3 others in the car even after including petrol and toll but pity the driver yeah.
Compared to flying, there is no need to be at the airport an hour earlier, flying for less than an hour and then traveling over an hour to reach KL. Actually total duration between flying and taking the ETA is almost the same! Plus the fact that the ticket price for this ETS is likely to be cheaper than a flight ticket too. Seats are bigger and it’s possible to walk inside the train too. So, if you are ready to travel, here is the good news from KTMB. We will get 30 percent discount when this service starts from 12th December. Limited to 5,000 tickets. Read here:
Article in freemalaysiatoday.com Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad is offering a 30% discount to mark the launch of its electric train service to JB Sentral from Dec 12.
KTMB said the discount applies to the KL Sentral-JB Sentral-KL Sentral sector for travel from Dec 12 to Jan 11, 2026.
KTMB chief technical officer Ahmad Nizam Amin said passengers could enjoy the offer by using the “JBBEST” promo code when buying tickets, Bernama reported him as saying in a statement.
He said 5,000 promo codes were available, subject to terms and conditions.
Ahmad said the new train service was timely as it came ahead of the school holiday season and the year-end festive period, when many Malaysians travel to Johor. Article in freemalaysiatoday.com
Actually, we can just enjoy the journey and take the longer duration one
3.5 hours is the fastest. It has less stops. In fact we could also just buy tickets to stop at a few other stops along the way. Think about staying a night at these places. Drop by some historically significant restaurants in these towns and enjoy the food. Yes, I do think GRAB is available for our ease of transport or maybe just take the Teksi.
We can also take a walk along roads in these small towns which has been around forever but has started to be forgotten. With continuous urbanization, total population in these towns are dropping too. Malaysia has lots to offer. We are just taking things too quickly.
Singaporeans may be the ones taking up this opportunity too
There are probably just 5 percent of Singaporeans with a car. Most Singaporeans however would love to travel. With this ETS availability, it opens up a lot of opportunities to travel. Drop by morning of Saturday and arrive back into Singapore on Sunday evening. No need to rent a car, no need to feel tired, no need to be worried the car does not have enough luggage space too. Truth is, as soon as this becomes popular, ETS frequency has to be increased. Who knows, when we look at this again next year, ETA has helped to increase the number of international tourists into Malaysia too. Thais who just want to try traveling all the way to Singapore via the ETS or a Singaporean thinking of visiting Thailand using train. Happy traveling!
