Ipoh flights to Subang, Johor Bahru, Medan and potentially Langkawi and Krabi

I do not like it when people call Ipoh a sleepy hollow. You can have non-stop activities like walking, climbing, drinking, exploring, EATING and there is just no time for you to sleep. Sleepy? Hollow? Just because there are no flights, thus Ipoh is not well known enough and you call Ipoh a hollow place? It does not help that Ipoh airport is in the middle of a housing area. Sigh, there’s just limited land for further growth. Now tyou understand why KLIA and KLIA2 is out of the city centre? Malindo started its flight to Subang recently and the flight was nearly full. What’s more important however is that there are more flights out to and fro Ipoh being planned.
malindoSoon, we would have Ipoh – Johor Bahru, Ipoh – Medan and potentially Ipoh – Langkawi and Ipoh to Krabi. My friend who’s working in Singapore just complained that with Firefly, everytime she needs to fly back to Ipoh from Singapore, it will cost her close to RM3,000 for her family of 4, including transportation costs etc. With Malindo I think she can think about taking the flights from JB perhaps. Anyway, the more competition, the better for the consumer. How much is the typical flight from Ipoh to Johor Bahru? Take a look. Very much cheaper! No idea if this is promotional price.  This is not the only good news. It may also launch the Ipoh – Singapore flight using a Boeing!
A working and lively airport is badly needed for Ipoh. After all Ipoh is the capital city of Perak. Don’t just look at the general tourism. Team up with the private hospitals, go for more medical tourism visitors. Team up with the universities, go for students who wants to obtain an English based qualification for lesser cost than going to developed countries. This is the reason why we have a lot of students from China today. UK qualifications but at a cost which is in RM. Get international food critiques and bloggers to fly in to Ipoh. Understand the real diversity and the delicious food which is second to none, especially compared to some cities which have just a few food choices in all of its restaurants. In Ipoh, you will not find many restaurants selling that few types all the time! Besides this, Ipoh has nature related attractions including even white river rafting which is relatively unknown. Many people until today still think Ipoh is only for Taugeh Chicken and Dim Sum which always ruffle my feathers. Whoever dares to say that in front of me better be prepared to defend your city, no matter which city you are from in Malaysia.
