High Speed Rail is definitely an economic catalyst

High Speed Rail (HSR) Malaysia? Nothing, yet.

Plus someone said that it’s cheaper to provide free flights to Malaysians versus paying interest for the High Speed Rail.

Meanwhile in the HSR for Jakarta – Bandung Article in nst.com.my The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (HSR), the first HSR in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, has handled over 1 million passenger trips since its official operation on Oct 17, China State Railway Group Co said on Monday.

The rapidly rising passenger flows have prompted PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC), a joint venture consortium between Indonesian and Chinese firms that constructs and runs the HSR, to increase the train services to 48 trips per day from the previous 14.

With a design speed of 350 km per hour, the HSR connects Jakarta’s Halim station to Tegalluar station in the fourth largest city Bandung, shortening the journey from over three hours to about 40 minutes.

The railway, the first overseas high-speed railway project that fully uses Chinese railway systems, technology and industrial components, has made Bandung easily accessible from Jakarta, offering more choices for travellers, commuters, and families living apart, as well as boosting local tourism and unleashing new opportunities. Someone once told me flying is just 1 hour, why need HSR KL – SG?

Do we know how early must we be at the airport prior to flying? 🙂

Do we know how long we usually have to wait for the luggage to be out from the plane? Even if we assume it is super duper quick.

Do we know how long do we have to walk in any big international airport?

Have we ever taken the train before? Do we need to be there 3 hours before the train arrives? Do we need to wait for the luggage to be out from the plane? Do we have to walk easily 10 minutes to reach the gate? Do try to take the train to understand yeah.

Catalyst is a simple thing – people movement

When people are linked, like that of Bandung and Jakarta, then more economic activities will follow. Tourism will follow whether the flights landed in Bandung or Jakarta because the truth is, both are now within 40 minutes of one another and can be considered the same trip!

Now imagine flying into KL and one is able to visit Singapore in just 90 minutes via the HSR. Or flying into Singapore and able to also visit KL and many cities within 90 minutes or lower. It’s the SAME trip and the foreign traveller gets two countries versus just one! No car renting… (which will make the driver super tired). Just arrive with sufficient lead time, get up the train and be seated in a seat which is definitely more comfortable than the typical plane seat and the train will depart. Hardly any vibration, there’s also no landing anxiety or airport congestions etc.

I can also wish for HSR KL – SG to one day become true. Let me organise a trip to Singapore for all kopiandproperty.com readers at that time. Haha.
