Financial news: What happens when the population is no longer growing?
Where are the countries where the population is already declining?
The below few titles show which are some of the countries where the population number has started dropping. In other words, the number of new babies are much lower than needed for population growth.

- Many industrialized nations are realizing the effects of an aging population, such as a decline in the working-age population and a surge in health care costs.
- Over 20% of the population of 17 countries consists of persons 65 years or older.1
- The decline in the working-age population results in a supply shortage of qualified workers.
- Nations with a large senior population depend on a smaller group of people to pay for higher health costs, pension benefits, and other publicly funded programs.
Briefly, it’s not going to be rosy when the population in the country starts dropping yeah. Usually, it’s very hard to reverse this drop yeah. Well, unless of course the country takes in a lot of people from other countries. This is usually not acceptable because they may see foreigners with a different set of lense and perhaps fear the potential problems that would come as well if there are more and more foreigners while the population of the country continue dropping.
Where is the place where the fertility is lowest?
Please refer to the full article in visualcapitalist.com
South Korea has the lowest fertility rate in the world!

What about the place where the birth-rate is highest?
Highest would be Niger with a fertility rate of close to 7 per woman! (average number yeah). What is clear is all these top 10 highest fertility countries are also seeing a decline over the years. In other words, it’s not just the most advanced nations which are seeing a decline yeah.

What about Malaysia’s fertility rate?
Malaysia is also experiencing a drop too. As at 2020, the fertility rate is only 1.82 per woman yeah. Fortunately, I contributed a number which is higher than 1.82 yeah. I have a daughter and a son.

What about Singapore then? Our dearest neighbour
It’s lower than Malaysia yeah. The fertility rate is just 1.1 which meant that not only is the population not growing but it may even be declining unless of course it does something about it. Perhaps attracting more talents would be one such strategy.
