ETS train tickets are not easy to get
Buy them 2 weeks before and usually you may be able to get a ticket. One week before the travel date, the tickets are usually sold out. My wife takes the ETS sometimes when she goes back to Ipoh alone. The seats are big, the environment is cozy and the train ride is comfortable. It’s a smooth journey all the way and it’s unusual for it to be late except for some special circumstances. I have a good news to share for ETS yeah.
6 more ETS services and it’s faster too!
Article in nst.com.my Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will implement a new schedule for Electric Train Service (ETS) routes and introduce six ETS Express services starting Aug 1 2024.
KTMB said that this rescheduling takes into account the completion of the Klang Valley Double Track Electrification (KDVT) Phase 1 upgrade project on the Rawang to KL Sentral sector.
Through this rescheduling, KTMB will introduce another six ETS Express services from the existing 32 services per day.
Among these six services are routes for KL Sentral – Ipoh – KL Sentral, KL Sentral – Butterworth – KL Sentral, and KL Sentral – Padang Besar – KL Sentral.
“These express trains only stop at major stations and take two hours for the KL Sentral – Ipoh sector, three hours and 30 minutes for the KL Sentral – Butterworth sector and four hours and 50 minutes for the KL Sentral – Padang Besar sector,” it said. We definitely need the High Speed Rail (HSR)
This is the latest about High Speed Rail: HSR discussion with Singapore ONLY after cabinet approval Briefly, nothing is happening right now.
Maybe it’s now going to cost a lot more money. Maybe with the technology advancement, we could do this faster than previously before it was delayed. Maybe the cabinet will need more discussions before deciding. Maybe it’s better to just use ETS (like what some people say which I disagree). Lots of scenarios which could happen. So, just waiting for that next news about how it will be going and if nothing much in 2024, then, perhaps it’s time to do something else versus waiting for the High Speed Rail to happen.
Happy waiting everyone.
