Iskandar Property News: RTS will open in 2026

In case everyone has forgotten, there is a Rapid Transit System (RTS) link between Bukit Chagar, Johor Bahru and Woodlands, Singapore being built right this moment. This is a 4km long railway shuttle link. It is scheduled to open in 2026. It will provide a transportation which is high volume, fast and efficient and the link will be integrated to public transport systems at both stations too.

The capacity is 10,000 passengers per hour, per direction and expected ridership of 40,000 passengers per day upon opening. In other words, travelling to Singapore from Johor Bahru especially to go to work would be quick and easy. This number does seem to be small versus the number of people passing through JB and Singapore today.

Article in nst.com.my According to RHB Investment Bank Research (RHB IB), Singapore dollar-driven consumer spending power is expected to have a positive long-term spillover effect on retail, hospitality, and real estate players further out from the city centre. It believes that projects near the RTS will continue to be in high demand.

The possibility when RTS is completed?

It’s really possible to own a place in Johor Bahru which is within 10 minutes from the RTS link (probably a few km radius away) and thus arriving in Singapore in 10 minutes via the RTS. From the Woodlands station in Singapore. This will attract a few groups of potential buyers. The ones who are renting the smallest room in Singapore and paying S$800 (if not higher) and even some HDB owners who wants to own condos with facilities versus their current flat. We will see if this thought of mine is correct in the near future. Some samples below.

I do not own any property in Iskandar currently. We will see what happens next year. Will keep updating myself and all of you on RTS as and when there are further updates.
