When international travel is intensifying again

Are you ready to travel internationally again? I think I am. First thing first though, need to renew my passport online. Here’s the link if you are also thinking of doing the same as me. Malaysia Passport Renewal Online. My first destination may even be to the U.S representing District 51 Toastmasters here in Malaysia to the annual international convention. Second destination should be to some ASEAN countries. Do I feel comfortable to travel. Well, too many of my friends have travelled near and far thus far. So, perhaps I should join them too.

Now, if we intend to fly, are the flights ready? Are airlines ready with pilots? Today, let’s just look at some employment news of airlines, the famous ones yeah.

Article in thestar.com.my Singapore Airlines (SIA) is looking to recruit about 2,000 cabin crew as air travel continues to pick up pace. More than 800 cabin crew members have already been hired since hiring started in March. About three in five of these were former crew members who had left the job. The remaining new crew members are set to be hired by the end of the company’s current financial year next March 2023. Article in thestar.com.my

Article in thestar.com.my Cathay Pacific Airways will rehire hundreds of cabin crew who were previously laid off or resigned ahead of plans to ramp up its flight services, the Post has learned. The airline company invited former staff who had said they would like to be contacted for future jobs to send a priority application in an email seen by the Post on Wednesday. “I’m pleased that as we look to resume our flight operations, it is the right time for us to begin rebuilding our team,” Jeanette Mao, the airline’s general manager overseeing in-flight service, said in an email. When international flights start to become popular again

Malaysia’s total foreign visitors dropped 90 percent in 2021 versus 2019! It used to be over 26 million. It was just 4 million in 2021. Yeah, that’s pretty crazy right. From over 2 million per month, total visitors dropped to just over 4 million one whole year! My friend said KLIA is still very quiet. In fact a friend said that even Changi International Airport is considered very quiet. This is where I think when the rain comes, it will pour. Happy planning for travel and remember to always stay on the safe side when it comes to wearing a mask in public areas, especially in a foreign country.
