Digital Job Salaries to rise 10.81 percent in 2026!?
Highest salary increment estimation thus far!
If we go online and browse through the news with regards to increments for 2026, chances are we will see gloomier news. More are thinking of paying a lower increment, some are not giving increments and a smaller percentage than ever will give a larger than average increments. Typical percentage could be 3 percent all the way to 7 percent. However, the below news quoted that our digital job salaries may rise 10.8 percent in 2026 and this was after a 9.5 percent rise in 2025.
This is a wow because our official inflation is much lower and if the salary is rising by close to 11 percent, this person with such an increment will be living a much better life as his / her salary is rising faster than inflation many times! Are you also in the digital industry? Are you also super happy with your upcoming increment? Do share yeah. Meanwhile, read on:
Article in nst.com.my. Rising pay in Malaysia’s digital sector signals strong economic momentum and reinforces the country’s appeal as a regional tech talent hub.
Economists said growing demand for digital services is boosting workers’ incomes and driving broader economic benefits through increased spending power.
The National Tech Association of Malaysia (Pikom) on Thursday disclosed that advertised digital job salaries may rise 10.81 per cent in 2026, extending the strong momentum from the estimated 9.5 per cent growth in 2025.
In its “Economic and Digital Job Market Outlook 2025” report, Pikom said employers will keep competing aggressively for advanced tech talent as demand rises for specialists in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, cybersecurity and data-related fields.
The association said hiring has intensified for development, data engineering and advanced automation roles, while a highly mobile regional talent pool continues to shape the market. Article in nst.com.my.
Right industry helps but continuous adaptation is even more important
Every industry has its ups and downs but one thing is certain. The key is to always be relevant. Adapting to all the different changes would be required. An engineer who used to work only with machines will only be an engineer forever if he / she does not have the right communication skills and that leadership capability. In fact the only way this engineer could switch to another technical role is definitely through an interview yeah.
Meanwhile we also have accountants who has to keep themselves abreast with all the latest happenings. The skill is almost the same but the knowledge and the ability to analyze and present findings would become critical even as technology advancements meant accountants who are doing transactional roles are no longer needed or necessary. Moving up is the only way and adapting is the key.
I do think all these technical fields would continue to be at the forefront because without new technology, there are no advancements. Without more advancements, there are no new demands for services and goods. Imagine the technology stays the same… would we still buy a new notebook… buy a new handphone… or even buy a new car… There are absolutely no new advantages beyond just spending our hard earned money! Haha.
Congratulations if you are in the right industry and really getting a 10.8 percent increment for 2026. Do spend more to help the economy to multiply and more people to have jobs. Remember to save some of it and invest so that all these would become many times more in the future too. Cheers.
