Super positive expansion plan by emart24 here in Malaysia.

I have taken dinner in nicetoCU (Image below) at least 4 times. Three times Korean Ramen and one time just a bun. It’s comfortable, it has lots of choices and usually their stores are at convenient places. Price wise it’s attractive too. I would not say it’s cheap but air-con place and brightly lit meant that this is one place I definitely would stop for dinner when needed in the near future. Now we have another Korean based brand which intends to expand in Malaysia in a big way. We have emart24.

Article in nst.com.my. Popular Korean convenience store emart24 aims to open 300 outlets in Malaysia within five years.
The company entered Malaysia, its first overseas market, in 2021 and now has 65 stores nationwide.
Emart24 also plans to open 17 more outlets in the East Coast this year due to strong customer demand for its affordable Korean street food and drinks made from halal ingredients.
Emart stores in East Coast now serve almost 300,000 customers each month.
Chief executive officer Vuitton Pang said it received an encouraging, strong response from Malaysian consumers, especially those in Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang. Please do refer to the full article here: Article in nst.com.my.
Lifestyle is changing. Fancy place versus a typical kopitiam?
Most of the time, the neighbourhood kopi tiam (restaurants) are usually full of people but look around and we can also notice that majority are not the typical younger people we call the GenZs or younger, except if the kopi tiam is nearby some college / university.
They will prefer to be having a meal in a comfortable place, where the toilets are also generally cleaner, where there is aircon, where the bench may have power points for them to charge their laptop or handphone and they could order a simple meal and perhaps a latte too. Example? Here: Earlier article on this place is here. (click to read)

Why would emart24 be expanding if it’s not because of potential revenue?
I do not know if they operate based on franchise model by individual owners or not but that’s secondary. Whichever mode they chose, the reason is clear. They could see potential sales revenue and high demand and that’s why they will continue opening. I also am not sure what kind of attraction they will have because I have yet to visit one but if’s Korean. So, it definitely already a win here yeah. Think oppa… think Korean drama… think Korean bands… Yea, you get the picture now. 🙂
Plus if you are expanding it also meant that people have money to spend in your stores. That’s also a reflection of the general economy situation too. Please keep expanding yeah. More stores, more jobs, more people with salaries to spend.
