Scammed due to love. Losing RM3.9 million!

I seriously do hope that everyone understands that a typical and standard man would not keep asking for money from a woman for love. There are those kind of man but majority are not like that. Thus, the first sign of a scam is when someone kept asking you for money and then more money and then even more money. Emotional appeal is indeed extremely dangerous and this is why it’s important to get some advice from close friends if someone you met start asking you for money for whatever valid reasons. Below is another scam case. Victim lost RM3.9 million!

Article in malaymail.com A 63-year-old woman lost RM3.9 million to a love scam syndicate. The widow met a man posing as a South Korean on social media in December 2021. She had made 184 transactions transferring various sums totalling RM3.9 million to the man before she realised she was scammed.

Penang police chief Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the woman realised she was scammed after she found out the photos the man sent her were edited using another individual’s photo. He added, “She transferred small sums of between RM9,000 and RM50,000 between December last year and March this year.” The suspect asked the victim to invest in an oil rig business and promised the victim that he will take care of her for the rest of her life.
