Richest man in the world? Elon Musk. How wealthy is he?

Do read here:

In comparison to some bigger sized ASEAN countries: (bigger populations)

Thailand: “The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Thailand was worth 526.41 billion US dollars in 2024, according to official data from the World Bank. The GDP value of Thailand represents 0.50 percent of the world economy. source: World Bank.” Source: tradingeconomics.com

This is why GDP per population wise, Malaysia is behind only Singapore in ASEAN.

The size of Elon Musk’s wealth? (How much money he has?)

Article in malaymail.com “United States (US) businessman Elon Musk has become the first person in history whose net worth has surpassed US$700 billion (RM2.8 trillion), Sputnik/RIA Novosti reported, citing a Forbes magazine report.

Musk’s fortune increased after the Delaware Supreme Court overturned a lower court’s ruling invalidating Musk’s 2018 Tesla stock option package, now valued at US$139 billion. Forbes estimates that after successfully appealing this ruling, Musk’s net worth has reached a record US$749 billion, the magazine said.

Forbes previously named Musk the first person with a net worth exceeding US$600 billion after SpaceX announced a public offering that valued the company at US$800 billion.” To read the article in full here: Article in malaymail.com

Based on the above latest news, Elon’s networth is now US$749 billion (RM3.055 trillion) US$749 billion is enough to buy the whole economy of Malaysia and still have a lot of spare change for other countries’s GDP. Before you think the GDP of Malaysia is small, well.. we are around 36th in the world. If we use Purchasing Power Parity (PPP), then Malaysia is 30th in the world.

What is the size of Tesla’s competition?

Based on the below, Elon Musk can actually buy any competition based on the current market capitalization of the companies. He has over US$700 billion. The market capitalization of Toyota is just US$259.7 billion. Now we realize the size of his wealth yeah. With his current wealth, he could almost buy all the remaining top 10 car companies in the list.

A table displaying the market capitalization of leading automotive companies, with Tesla Inc. at the top valued at $1.4 trillion, followed by Toyota Motor Corp. and Xiaomi Corp.

With wealth, comes more wealth. Lots of opportunities will happen when we have the funds to invest. I am interested to see how much higher would his wealth grow to by end of 2026 maybe? Let’s keep ourselves updated then.
