RIANA DUTAMAS : STELLARIS SHAPES URBAN RETREAT LIVING THROUGH ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPING

RIANA DUTAMAS : STELLARIS SHAPES URBAN RETREAT LIVING THROUGH ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPING

A home is experienced through the details of daily life: the way natural light enters a room, how a layout gives privacy, how shared spaces support pause and connection, and how facilities make everyday routines feel more effortless.

At Stellaris @ Riana Dutamas, this thinking is expressed through the concept of contemporary urban retreat living, where architecture, interiors, facilities and landscape are planned as connected layers of daily life. As the final phase of the Riana Dutamas development by IJM Land and FCW Holdings Berhad, Stellaris focuses on how space, light, movement, greenery and shared facilities come together to create a more considered urban living experience.

Spanning approximately 5.78 acres of freehold land, Stellaris comprises 1,143 serviced residences with unit sizes ranging from approximately 766 sq ft to over 1,206 sq ft. With layouts that include two-bedroom, three-bedroom and dual-key configurations, the development is designed for a broad range of residents, from single professionals and young families to growing households, multi-generational families and investors.

DESIGN THAT STARTS WITH DAILY LIFE

Stellaris is guided by the idea of a contemporary urban retreat, where residents remain connected to the city while returning to a home environment that offers relief from its pace.

Designed by GDP Architects Sdn Bhd, Stellaris benefits from the firm’s over three decades of architectural and design experience. Founded in 1990, GDP Architects is a multidisciplinary architectural and design practice known for combining technical expertise, contextual thinking and practical design solutions across a wide range of building typologies.

For Stellaris, this experience is reflected in an architectural approach that responds to Segambut’s urban setting while prioritising liveability, circulation, natural light and resident comfort. The building form is shaped by clean contemporary lines, visually lighter massing and generous semi-outdoor spaces. Every unit includes a private balcony, allowing residents to enjoy better natural light, ventilation and city views while creating a personal threshold between the indoors and the wider urban environment.

The development’s location also shaped its planning. With direct access to major routes and a completed covered pedestrian walkway to Segambut KTM Station, Stellaris is designed around both movement and retreat, giving residents access to the city while preserving a sense of calm within the development.

According to Datuk Chai Kian Soon, Chief Operating Officer of IJM Land, the design approach behind Stellaris was guided by how urban residents experience home today.

“Good design must begin with how people live. At Stellaris, the architecture, layouts, facilities and landscape have been planned to support the rhythm of daily life, from natural light and ventilation to privacy, circulation and shared spaces. As city living becomes faster and more compact, homes need to offer comfort, flexibility and calm while remaining connected to the opportunities around them,” he said.

INTERIORS THAT TRANSLATE DESIGN INTO LIFESTYLE

The Stellaris show units were created to demonstrate how different layouts can respond to different lifestyles, household structures and daily routines.

The Type A show unit, a 766 sq ft two-bedroom layout, introduces a “Playful Urban Cat Living” concept tailored for young urban dwellers, couples and pet owners. The design uses a soft contemporary language with pastel blue tones, warm neutrals, light wood finishes and sculptural curves to create a youthful yet clean living environment.

Cat-friendly features are integrated into the space as subtle lifestyle elements. Wall features, cat steps, curved ceiling lighting and playful visual gestures bring character into the unit while maintaining a contemporary look. Built-in elements such as an integrated dining table and console help reduce clutter and improve everyday usability.

The Type B show unit, a 884 sq ft three-bedroom layout, presents an “Urban Spring Luxury” concept suited for families and upgraders seeking a larger home. Its design direction is calmer and more mature, using pastel green accents, soft beige tones, warm neutrals and walnut-toned finishes to create a refined, hospitality-inspired atmosphere.

Simple wall panelling, layered lighting, textured finishes and clean furniture profiles give the space a sense of accessible luxury while keeping it relatable for family living. Design decisions such as reducing bulky furniture and maintaining an open flow between living, dining and kitchen areas help improve circulation and spatial perception.

Together, the two show units present different lifestyle possibilities within Stellaris. Type A speaks to compact, expressive city living, while Type B reflects a more composed, family-oriented home environment. Both demonstrate how interior design can make space feel personal, functional and adaptable

FLEXIBLE HOMES FOR CHANGING NEEDS

Beyond interior styling, Stellaris places strong emphasis on spatial efficiency, flexibility and future usability.

Selected layouts are designed to improve light, ventilation and liveability, supported by efficient floor plans and practical spatial planning. The dual-key configuration gives residents greater room to adapt the home as needs change, whether for family care, work, privacy or rental flexibility.

For larger and multi-generational families, the studio component can function as an independent suite for elderly parents or adult children, or be converted into a four-bedroom layout to better accommodate bigger households. For work-from-home professionals, it can become a separate office or studio. For investors, it creates the option of rental income while preserving use of the main residence.

This flexibility reflects how modern households are changing. A home today must be able to support rest, work, family care, privacy and future adaptability within the same address.

FACILITIES DESIGNED FOR EVERYDAY LIVING

Stellaris features 31 lifestyle facilities designed to support different aspects of daily living, from wellness and recreation to family time, work and community interaction.

Across the podium, these facilities are arranged around different resident needs, with spaces dedicated to retreat, activity, family recreation, wellness, work and social connection.

Water & Retreat Spaces feature the elevated infinity pool, spa oasis pool and wading pool, creating a calming poolside environment for relaxation and everyday retreat.

Active & Family Spaces bring together the children playground, Mini Golf, Outdoor Fitness area and barbeque terrace, supporting movement, play and family recreation.

Wellness, Work & Communal Spaces comprise the Yoga Deck, Reflexology Path, Rejuvenation Deck, outdoor lounges, co-working spaces, games room, multi-purpose hall and landscape deck offering areas for restoration, productivity and social connection.

A central Stroll and Jog Trail links the facilities together, creating a continuous loop that encourages movement across the podium and helps the three residential blocks function as one connected community.

LANDSCAPE DESIGNED AS A TRANQUIL SANCTUARY

The landscape at Stellaris is conceived as a Tranquil Sanctuary, using water, greenery and spatial layering to create a softer, more restorative environment within the city. Developed with WDI Design as the landscape consultant, the design balances wellness, recreation, privacy and community living across the podium.

At the heart of the landscape are water features such as the elevated pool, spa oasis pool and kids’ pool, forming a calming Blue Sanctuary that helps soften the urban setting. Green areas such as Tranquil Greens and the Herbs Garden provide visual relief, while landscaped pockets create a sense of retreat within the development.

The landscape is also planned around different levels of social interaction. Larger communal areas encourage gathering, while quieter spaces such as the Idyllic Seat Lounge, Rejuvenation Deck and Yoga Deck offer residents personal moments of calm.

Privacy is considered through careful spatial planning. Garden units on the podium level are framed by lush greenery, allowing the terrace areas to flow naturally into the surrounding podium landscape while maintaining a sense of privacy and retreat. Active facilities are placed away from private residential edges to balance community life with personal space.

DAILY CONVENIENCE COMPLETES THE EXPERIENCE

The design intent of Stellaris extends beyond the home and podium.

The development integrates a retail and food hall concept, with targeted uses including F&B outlets, a pharmacy and a grocer. This brings daily essentials closer to residents and supports a more self-sustained lifestyle environment within Riana Dutamas.

Connectivity further strengthens everyday convenience. Stellaris is located approximately 150 metres from Segambut KTM Station via a covered pedestrian walkway, providing residents with a direct link to the rail network. Road connectivity is supported by major highways, including DUKE, SPRINT and NKVE, while shuttle services connect residents to nearby MRT stations and lifestyle hotspots.

These elements allow Stellaris to support the full rhythm of daily living, from commuting and working to resting, exercising, dining and connecting with others.

“Stellaris carries forward what Riana Dutamas has been building across its earlier phases while refining the experience for today’s homeowners. The final phase brings together architecture, flexible layouts, wellness-led landscape, practical retail and strong transport access in a way that supports different stages of life, from young professionals and families to multi-generational households and investors. We intend to create a place that feels connected to the city, yet calm enough to return to every day,” Chai added.

As the final phase of Riana Dutamas, Stellaris represents a more refined expression of urban living in Segambut, shaped by thoughtful design intent, practical layouts, curated facilities and a living environment planned around everyday needs.
