Property News Johor: Special Financial, Economic Zones will be catalysts
Flying geese effect in attracting investments
It’s always very important to attract a big brand to invest and when this big brand invests, then their vendors would also come in to invest. This is because this big brand will be buying from their vendors. Meanwhile when the working population grows, then more businesses would come. Everyone needs to eat… and drink… and buy things… and when sales people come visiting, then accommodation is also needed.
Petrol stations would be needed and so on. Clinics would be needed. Pharmacies would be needed. Then, property development would have to start and even nurseries may start too. Then, more businesses would want to open for business because they would have business to do. This is why it’s super important to have a catalyst which will then spur economic growth in the area. This seems to be something which is happening in the Iskandar and spearheaded by Forest City.
Article in malaymail.com Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said that the Johor government is confident that the Special Financial Zone (SFZ) and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) will catalyse the state’s economic growth.
He said, “There were several proposals by Forest City to create the best financial hub ecosystem such as constructing a route from the Linkedua highway directly to Forest City and creating 10,000 new jobs within 10 years.”
He added in his Facebook post, “Another proposal is to ease cross-border travel by creating multiple entry visas and fast track immigration clearance lane, as well as special tax and incentive packages.”
“I was also informed that several renowned hospitals, international schools and higher education institutions have also expressed their interest in becoming part of the SFZ eco-system in Forest City.” Read article in full here: Article in malaymail.com
The question is always what would happen to Singapore
Sometimes, people ask me what do I think of Johor Bahru or Iskandar. Honestly, this is not the right question to ask yeah. I ask them what do they think of Singapore. Their answer is usually ranging from positive to very positive. I ask them if they know 400,000 people pass through JB – SG on average daily. They say they have read about it.
Then I ask them if they know Singapore’s population is growing and that Singapore is an island no matter how much they try to reclaim. They said, they know. Then, I will smile and hopefully they understand that JB is going to be just within 10 minutes away from Singapore once the Rapid Transit System (RTS) is completed in 2026. RTS Opens in 2026.
Again, if we simply buy any property which is overpriced, then it is still a bad investment yeah. Happy searching for one.
