Property Investment 101: 8 washing machines (8kg) ranked by price

I am using Panasonic 10kg top loading and is very happy currently.

So if you like, you can follow me too. Just need to know that preference simply means preference yeah. It does not mean this is the best or the most long lasting or whatever. Just preference.

My first washing machine was a LG 6kg top loader. This one I used for no less than 8 years. I know they say front loading machines are better. It’ washes better, it is more powerful, it is using the gravity as well and more reasons. I will agree to all. As for me, I find top loading more convenient. It’s just a personal preference. The research below is also on top loading machines. So if you like a front loading one, just feel free to go and get more advice from your friendly neighbourhood electrical goods store salesperson.

I look at 8kg washing machines because I think this is good enough for a family of 4. 10kg is better and 6kg may just struggle a bit when the washing is for the whole family at once and less frequently. Please note that the below is only on the price stated. It does not take into account the delivery costs which may vary. It does not look at the rebates. That’s for you to calculate and decide.

Info below correct as at 20th Dec. Source: shopee.com (MY)

#1 Cheapest (only when compared to the washing machines here, maybe there are even cheaper ones)

Hisense (Chinese brand)

#2 Haier (Chinese brand)

#3 Pensonic (Malaysian brand)

#4 – Khind (Malaysian brand)

#5 – Sharp (Japanese brand)

#6 – Toshiba (Japanese brand)

#7 – LG (South Korean brand)

#8 – Panasonic (National brand… haha. Okay, Japanese brand)

Washing Machine is an essential part of a new home

Buy a good one and it will last a super long time. Cost of repair is likely to be easily 1/3 or up to 1/2 of the price of a new cheapest washing machine too. Coz it’s price of parts plus the workmanship. Yes, once upon a time, I foolishly repaired before. If my washing machine breaks down in the future, it will depend on how long have I used it.

If it’s already over 10 years, buy new one lah. My current Panasonic has passed 8 years. Thus far issue-free which is good. The one before this was Zanussi. Erm… I don’t like because it had issues in less than 1 year. It stopped working totally in less than 2 years. Maybe that’s why I could not find any Zanussi washing machines in shopee today? Perhaps this is also just my own unlucky experience. If you also own a Zanussi washing machine before, please do share your experience too.

Congratulations if you are buying this washing machine because you are owner of a new home. All the best if you are just choosing a washing machine to replace your current one.
