International travel restrictions? Update from Japan, Australia, Malaysia and USA.

International travel restrictions? Update from Japan, Australia, Malaysia and USA.

I intend to travel via flights again when international borders are reopened and my children has been fully vaccinated. Perhaps Perth could be one of the choices since it’s near enough and it has handled the Covid-19 situation pretty well thus far. Japan is meanwhile a country I love to visit again and again because it’s just too culturally beautiful and it has all the sights and the food which I love. Plus, the truth is, it is quite affordable too especially when compared to other advanced nations.

Article in themalaysianreserve.com Japan will reopen its borders for business travelers and students starting on 8th November 2021. Short-term business travelers only need to undergo a quarantine of 3 days if they were fully vaccinated. Meanwhile longer term travelers and students would have to undergo 14 days of quarantine or 10 days if they were vaccinated with these approved vaccines: Pfizer Inc., Moderna Inc. and AstraZeneca PLC. However, there is still a daily limit of 3,500 foreigners entering Japan. Article in nst.com.my Foreign Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah was speaking after meeting his visiting Australian counterpart Senator Marise Payne here in Malaysia. He said that Malaysia and Australia are discussing the possibility of reopening their borders as soon as possible.

He said, “The understanding is that, it has to be in stages. What those stages are, is to be announced later, as and when our ministers of health are ready, but as far as foreign ministers are concerned, we need to travel and we want people to travel.” Please do refer to the full article here: Article in nst.com.my

Article in nst.com.my The United States which has closed its borders in early 2020 by former president Donald Trump will be reopened to foreign visitors fully vaccinated against Covid-19. US health authorities have also announced that all vaccines approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and the World Health Organization would be accepted for entry by air. This includes the following currently: the AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Pfizer/BioNTech, Covaxin, Sinopharm and Sinovac vaccines. Article in nst.com.my

Not soon but it will be QUICK when it happens

If we look at just ASEAN and the the question for international travel restrictions is how soon, I do not think it is anytime soon. There would be a lot more discussions before any agreement can be reached. It’s the same with Australia too.

However, if the question is whether it will be very quick once it’s decided, then yes. I do think that once that tipping point is reached, we are going to see the connectivity between countries will quickly reestablished with sufficient Standard Operating Procedures. Yes international travel restrictions once lifted, flights will quickly rise!

That would definitely require ALL foreign visitors into Malaysia to wear masks. If you do not wish to wear masks, please go somewhere else. Plus it would require all visitors to show that they have been fully vaccinated too. Just follow the list of vaccines approved by World Health Organisation for this. Happy anticipating.
