Inter-state travel is possible, few days more. Are you ready?
Actually, I still do not feel comfortable with inter-state travel being lifted so soon. Just note these important numbers in an earlier article yeah. (click to read) ICU utilisation still so high! plus second fact is that some states are still VERY FAR from 90% vaccinations target. We are only hitting 90% ON AVERAGE yeah. Read here for all the numbers.
However, inter-state travel seems to be coming within a few days time whether or no I feel comfortable enough yet.
Article in nst.com.my Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says that interstate travel restrictions will be lifted within the next few days. He tweeted “In next couple of days interstate travel restrictions will be lifted. It’s important to take all precautions like wearing a mask, washing your hands and physical distancing even for those vaccinated. In keeping your loved ones and family safe, please do periodic saliva RTK Ag self-testing.”
It was previously reported that inter-state travel will be allowed once vaccinations for adult population hits 90 percent. As of 11.59pm yesterday, 88.8 per cent of the adult population had received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Yesterday, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said, “1.6 per cent before interstate borders open. While @KKMPutrajaya has transitioned to symptomatic testing, we encourage people who are in high contact and mobility settings to test regularly. If you want to balik kampung to see elderly parents, do a RTK saliva test. Keep them safe.” Do read the full article here: Article in nst.com.my
My decision is not to travel immediately
It’s my decision not to travel inter-state immediately. Let’s just have a gap of 7 days and see what happens first. My parents are senior citizens (both fully vaccinated) while my kids (both are not vaccinated because too young). It has been so many months, another week will not be too much to bear.
For those who’s travelling as soon as it’s lifted, just remember, follow all SOPs and stop thinking that Covid-19 has left us. It’s merely a move from pandemic response to endemic response. The numbers remain high and the ICU utilisation remains high and not within the usual normal or comfortable levels. The below shows latest ICU usage. It’s really not as low as you think yet.
All the best to all of us here in Malaysia. Please do report anyone who’s not following SOP. Thank you.
