Just gotten this in my group WhatsApp. Note – whatever is from What’s app we must also do some research yeah. Here’s the link to NST. I am very sure you would have gotten it too. After all, it’s money, free money for every Malaysian adult aged 18 and above. Apologies to non-Malaysians who are here, this is not for you. My personal view is always, why every adult? There are the groups which need more and there are groups which need less or maybe not at all. Then again, this has been decided, so will just accept and will spend the money lah.

Please do not save the given RM100 yeah.

Else, the multiplier effect on the economy does not happen. Basically, 22 million adult Malaysians with RM100 each means RM220,000,000 (RM220 million). Multiplier effect of 4x means the effect on the economy is RM880,000,000 (RM880 million) if everyone spends everything they get or maybe even more since some of the things they want to buy may be higher than RM100.

Another day of holiday is welcomed, especially if it’s during a school holiday

For people with children, the only time they can go for family holidays would be during the school holidays. So this additional leave meant that people can make trips, they will thus spend more money and thus the multiplier effects are more. No need to ask any economist on the benefits of people going for vacations. Especially if KL people go Penang and Penang people go JB and many Peninsular based Malaysians travel to Sarawak or Sabah.

Good idea lah. Plus it’s announced so early meant that people can plan and the effects will be there. If announced last minute, the maximum thing people can do is just stay home and this could even reduce the multiplier effect!

No toll increase meant lots of savings for me too

My hometown is Ipoh. My working hometown for first 15 years after my 1st degree was Penang. I have been to all states in Malaysia (yes, I am a real Malaysian and have been to Kuching and Kota Kinabalu and most other cities and towns too). So, you can imagine how much toll I save on a yearly basis since I will go back to Penang (still have properties there) and Ipoh no less than 20 times a year. No increase meant I do not need to take away money I could spend for toll payments.

Petrol subsidy is getting better?? RM1.99 per liter?

Only for Malaysians BUT as usual, PLEASE ensure only Malaysians get this subsidy yeah. Enough of any foreigners trying to enjoy the same. Enough of some syndicates trying to sell these subsidized petrol in other countries bordering us. Without enforcement, very soon the subsidy amount will be too big and in the end everyone who should be entitled will also get their entitlements taken back. The government does not have unlimited funds to keep subsidizing yeah.

So, Malaysians, please be vigilant and help to enforce all these because it’s for our benefit! Do not let some unscrupulous people take advantage of this lowered petrol price yeah.
