EPF news: Great performance in 2023 and the headwinds in 2024

What’s the dividend for EPF savings for 2023?

Nope, the dividend percentage has not yet been announced if that’s what you are hoping. However, if you have been following kopiandproperty.com news on EPF, 2023 has been a relatively good year yeah. One latest article is this one: 10 things about EPF you should know about. Meanwhile there’s a long article in themalaysianreserve.com which points out many things we should take note when it comes to my beloved EPF. Yes, I have my EPF savings too and I am happy to say that I intend to leave it there as long as I could as well.

Article in themalaysianreserve.com Alpine Advisory Director Rozanna Abdul Rashid said, based on EPF’s impressive 3Q23 performance, the market consensus is that its full-year return will be between 5.5% to 6.5%, with the conventional accounts registering a higher rate than the Shariah accounts.

Based on its 3Q23 performance, EPF reported a substantial total investment income of RM47.86 billion, a notable 33% increase from the same period in 2022.

Economist Dr Zulkufli Zakaria believed that EPF has potentially invested in low- and medium-risk investments such as the stock market and some bonds. Hence, he anticipated that EPF would give a higher return for 2023. Do read the long article with lots of information here: Article in themalaysianreserve.com

This is expected for 2024 (you can read the news daily too)

The International Monetary Fund on Tuesday cut its growth forecasts for China and the euro zone and said overall global growth remained low and uneven despite what it called the “remarkable strength” of the U.S. economy. In its latest World Economic Outlook, the IMF left its forecast for global real GDP growth in 2023 unchanged at 3.0% but cut its 2024 forecast to 2.9% from its July forecast of 3.0%. World output grew 3.5% in 2022. Source: reuters.com

In other words, good news is that the world is going to grow in 2024. The bad news is that the growth will be slower than what was earlier forecasted. In fact the growth is likely to be slower than even 2022 as well. If we know that the growth will be continuing, what do we do then? Wait until everything is super clear before making any investment decision? Well, that’s one way. For me, as usual, I will continue to look at properties every time I travel and try to identify some opportunities to enter as well. We shall see. Perhaps Melaka, perhaps JB. All the best to me.

Happy thinking and deciding.
