1.5 litre Saga starts from RM37,990. Are you booking one?

1.5 litre Saga starts from RM37,990. Are you booking one?

Yes, very good value whichever way we look at it

The new Saga looks nice. The engine looks right. The future sales for this model looks bright. The price is really ‘light’ for a 1.5 litre car. It has 120 hp. Very decent power really.

In Thailand, the cheapest sedan car (as per google) is the Toyota Yaris ATIV but it has a 1.2 litre engine and a 94hp engine. It’s Baht54,900 (RM70,000). Thailand is the ‘Detroit’ of Asia. If we look at non-sedan, cheapest is Suzuki Celerio automatic version at Baht399,000 (RM51,000). It has a 1 litre engine with 66hp.

In Indonesia, the cheapest sedan is Toyota Vios IDR350 million (RM87,000). For non-sedan, cheapest is Daihatsu Ayla at IDR171.4 million (RM42,500). It’s a 1.2 litre automatic with 87 hp. Thailand’s car price should be very competitive since they do not have a national car industry and they produce so many cars. Indonesia has a large population, so naturally competition for customers would be high. Yet, our new Saga’s price has beaten all of them by a large margin. Yes, the price of new Saga is very ‘light’ indeed aka affordable. Take a look at the price details below:

I do not need a new car at the moment, else it would be a strong choice

I have never been a SUV lover. Except if the SUV is a C-segment one. Somehow I do not find small SUVs attractive. Maybe because I am just too fat and it will not be comfortable for me. I always prefer a sedan and I seriously think my next car is a sedan too. Haha. This is a potential: Latest Emgrand. I think it’s the next generation of S70. We will see.

However, if I do need a sedan car now and I just have a small family, then of course Saga will be a choice for me.

How much is the repayment actually?

I have no idea what’s the interest rate is but if we use 3 percent and also a 9-year loan, we get the below from CIMB. RM447 per month. Pretty affordable actually.

A CIMB personal banking loan calculator displaying details for a loan of RM 38,000 over a period of 9 years at an interest rate of 3%. It shows total term charges of RM 10,260, an installment amount of RM 446.85, and a total installment payable of RM 48,260.

No link in this article to buy. No need mention you saw it here too. I am not affiliated and Proton also did not engage me. This is merely a public message based on my thoughts as well as an owner of a Proton Persona. Happy viewing and then deciding. If it’s still Buzz, so be it. As long as we are clear of the reason we chose the car.
