TROPICANA GARDENS DIANTHUS SERVICED RESIDENCES  ACHIEVES GREEN BUILDING CERTIFICATION

Tropicana Gardens Dianthus Serviced Residences was recently presented with the Green  Building Index (“GBI”) Silver rating certificate.  

The development must complete a list of green requirements, verified and approved by the GBI appointed consultants. 

As a sustainable township planner, Tropicana continues its green journey in making a positive  difference for the community.  

Tropicana Gardens, an award-winning transit-oriented  development (“TOD”) by Tropicana Corporation Berhad (“Tropicana” or “the Group”) was  recently presented with the Green Building Index (“GBI”) Silver rating certificate. Its’ fourth  residential phase, Dianthus serviced residences successfully completed a list of green  requirements, which was subsequently verified and approved by GBI appointed consultants.  As a sustainable township planner, Tropicana continues its green journey in making a positive  difference for the community. This includes the Group’s ongoing commitment to embed green  features in its developments with the aim to reduce environment impact.

ABOUT GBI CERTIFICATION 

Green Building Index (“GBI”) is Malaysia’s first comprehensive rating system in assessing the environmentally friendly elements of a building, community or factory in design and  operation. Introduced in January 2009, the green rating tool was designed for the Malaysian  tropical climate taking into account environmental concerns, and the country’s social, cultural,  and developmental contexts. 

Tropicana Indah has achieved six GBI-rated developments namely – Tropicana Gardens Arnica,  Bayberry, Cyperus, Dianthus, Tropicana Gardens Mall & Office Tower. To achieve this GBI Silver  rating certification for the completion and verification assessment of Tropicana Gardens  Dianthus Serviced Residences, the development was built according to these green building  standards: 

1. Energy Efficiency 

• Energy-efficient light fittings 

• Photo sensor with motion sensor 

2. Water efficient fixtures 

3. Renewable Energy  

• 11 solar panels, which can draw 3kW peak installed for common area usage 4. EV charging station 

• 10 units of EV charging station with 7kW charging capacity for each station to cater  to 20 numbers of car park bays at Basement 4 

5. Indoor Environmental Quality  

6. Low VOC materials 

7. Community Connectivity 

• Near MRT Surian 

• Bus station 

• Amenities – mall, hospital, bank, ATM 

8. Green rooftop to reduce heat islands 

9. Rainwater harvesting 

• Natural rainwater and water from air conditioning condensation is collected to be  used to water the landscape 

10. Recycling of fire system test water 

11. Compost bin to encourage a recycling habit within the community 

12. Sustainable construction method 

• Usage of IBS formwork in the construction 

• Reused and salvaged materials onsite 

• Using recycled materials during construction 

13. Local sourcing to reduce environmental impact 

14. Used Forest Stewardship Council (“FSC”) certified wood in the construction 15. Usage of adaptive plants that require minimal watering
