This is an overview of Malaysia’s COVID-19 vaccination programme. We look at the vaccines which the government will be procuring (which is approved, which is in approval), the phases for the vaccination (who gets first, who gets last), what really happens during the two doses, where are the places we could get the shot and lastly the potential side-effects after taking the COVID-19 vaccination shot(s).

#1 What are the available vaccines?

As at 17th February 2021, only the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine has been fully approved while all the other ones listed below are still under evaluation for approval. Do refer to the image below for all the rest. We do have acquired more vaccine doses from AstraZeneca (UK), Sinovac (China), Can SinoBio (China) and Sputnik V (Russia) which the government is in process of approving them for use. These will be enough to cover more than 100% of all Malaysians.

As per announced by the Health Minister, we will also be providing vaccines to non-Malaysians residing here as well.
