Six Malaysian property projects won in FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards 2020

FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards have always been known as the Oscars in the real estate world. In their 2020 edition, six Malaysian projects won this world class award. Of the six developers, five were for Gold Award.

They are Plaza Arkadia in the Mixed-Use Development Category developed by Perdana ParkCity, KL Eco City (Office) by SP Setia, Mangala Resort & Spa (Resort) by Franky Land, Melawati Mall (Retail) by Sime Darby Property / CapitaLand, and Gamuda City in Vietnam (Master Plan Category) by Gamuda Land.

The sixth development which received the silver award is Pangsapuri Kasturi (Affordable Housing Category) by Johor Land.

This year, a record 33 of the world’s best property developments were recognised as the industry’s finest. There were 16 World Gold winners and 17 World Silver winners. These winning developments were from Hungary, the Republic of Panama, Netherlands, Taiwan, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Malaysia.

Newly-appointed FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards Committee President Dr Yu Kee Su said because of competition, there were a few joint winners in several categories contested for both the gold and silver awards. He said, “The projects submitted for judging are getting better every succeeding year, raising the benchmark of excellence.”

FIABCI World President (2020-202)1 Florentino Dulalia said the beauty of an excellent project lies within the detailed and meticulous planning incorporating design and architecture, nature conservation and sustainability. He said, “The final creation shall benefit society in making the world a better place to live in the largest scale possible.”

FIABCI Malaysia Chapter President Michael Geh said property developments in the country had received international recognition because of the high product quality and attractive architecture with more than a touch of green. He said, “Malaysian developers have raised the bar in developing properties which have consistently fared very well in the international property competitions.”

Michael also shared that even though it seems that many of these developer winners were bigger players but the truth is, he could see many good boutique developments which were worthy potential winners too. The only issue was that these boutique developments were not submitted for consideration. Thus, he encourage more developers to take part and the focus should be on the product and not the size of the developer.

He said, “I invite local developers who are passionate about their boutique projects to submit for the coming FIABCI Malaysia Property Award. Previous winners are not big companies and projects, many boutique developments have won and went on to achieve international recognition.”

Any local developers who would like to know how to submit their entries for the Malaysia Property Awards by FIABCI should quickly contact the following:

Congratulations to all winners and let’s look forward to ever more Malaysian winners to keep raising the bar year after year.
