As an Ipohan, I love trips to Taiping because the food is nice and cheap. (Okay, it’s no longer as cheap as long time ago but it’s still good enough) I have relatives and friends staying there too. Haha… Trying to make connections. Taiping Lake Garden shows to us the wonders of nature. If only all cities and towns have a lake garden integrated into part of the city itself. Now, Taiping people have more things to be proud about. It has been awarded the 3rd MOST SUSTAINABLE cities in the world! Article in thestar.com.my here. Taiping is the third most sustainable cities in the world, right behind Ljubljan, Slovenia and Vancouver, Canada. The ranking is based on the cities’ urban sustainability and its avoidance of disruptive over-tourism. Taiping was awarded this during the 2019 Sustainable Top 100 Destination Awards at the International Tourismus-Börse (ITB) in Berlin, Germany. Datuk Abd Rahim Md Ariff, president of the Taiping Municipal Council said this prestigious award was due to the hard work of the community, relevant government agencies and the council. In December 2018, Taiping was listed as the 100 Sustainable Cities by Green Destinations which was a list made to recognise the contribution of authorities to a more sustainable environment. Even the name is significant because it means Peace. Nope, I do not think Taiping is an amazing city for property investment. Maybe buying a property as another retirement home then? 🙂 Happy visiting and enjoying our very own Most Sustainable City; Taiping.
