On auction will be 76 pieces of commemorative banknotes issued in conjunction with the 60th Anniversary of the Signing of the Federation of Malaya Independence Agreement. Yes, it’s a RM600 note which meant that this is already a piece of rare note. Since this is a legal tender, it’s even possible to bring it to some supermarkets and buy groceries with it. Well, that is as soon as you have won a piece. Come and see it for yourself.
For the coin collectors, there would be an auction for a total of 195 pieces of gold commemorative coins issued in conjunction with the Installation of His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong XV will be auctioned. The reserve price starts from RM4,000 per piece. These coins would also have serial numbers which meant that each piece would be special in its own way. When we look at gold commemorative coins, one of the famous ones would be the 1971 issued Tunku Abdul Rahman 100 ringgit coin which is now worth at least RM25,000. (According to this numismatics site) . No one knows what would be the value of these rare coins in the future. Get one and perhaps leave it for the next generation as a gift from this generation?
The Bank will also auction circulation banknotes with special serial numbers such as sets of the first 10 banknotes (e.g. BW0000001 – 0000010) and super solid numbers with repetitive prefix (e.g. BB8888888).
The auction of commemorative currency and Ringgit banknotes with special serial numbers will be conducted on Saturday, 10 March 2018, 8.30 a.m. onwards at the Auditorium Sasana Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia. The auction will be conducted by the Bank’s appointed auctioneer, MNP Auctioneers (Central) Sdn. Bhd. (MNP).
