It does not matter which way to go, if we do not know where…

If you are reading articles in kopiandproperty.com, I think you are not lost in your property investment journey. Not yet anyway. Haha. Actually, to really keep abreast with all property news, we need to read more than just one property site. Personally, I read investment related news online on a daily basis. I have not been buying newspapers for the past 7 years. My subscription for The Edge ended last year. They did not have any new attractive packages, so I did not continue. Where knowledge is concerned, I would personally recommend reading continuously for 6 months to have a better grasp of where the market is right now. Sometimes, we read one negative article and we ignore the property market totally. Wrong action. Occasionally, we read a positive article and we believe the market is ripe to buy. So, we go out and buy something considered over-priced. Double-wrong action.
In our property investment journey, it is very important to have some sense of where we intend to go. Otherwise, it’s going to be tough to decide what type of properties to buy, where to buy, why buy and even fundamental questions such as should I buy for own stay or should I buy to rent out? I end with literature this time. Perhaps a good question to start would be: Who is our target market? As for the journey itself, let me quote what Lewis Carroll wrote in the famous Alice in the Wonderland.
“Alice: Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?
The Cheshire Cat: That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.
Alice: I don’t much care where.
The Cheshire Cat: Then it doesn’t much matter which way you go.
Alice: …So long as I get somewhere.
The Cheshire Cat: Oh, you’re sure to do that, if only you walk long enough.”
If we do not have a direction but we continue along a certain path, then we should reach somewhere. Don’t laugh. This is quite true for me. I did not have high hopes for unit trust units. However, I think if I can continue buying on a monthly basis, it should not be a loss over a long period of time. In total I have already invested bit by bit for unit trust units for over 10 years. It really did not give me exceptional returns but when I look at where I started and where I am today, I think I have benefited. Due to the  automatic deduction for it, my salary has been smaller than what it should and this made me spend less. No wonder I have no money for a new smartphone. I am still using my 3-year old OPPO Find 5 Mini. Have an awesome 2017 dear readers of kopiandproperty.com
