NREA: Recognising the best in the real estate industry

I have many friends who are Real Estate Negotiators (RENs). In fact one ex-colleague whom I admire a lot is now a very successful REN too. I always look at this profession as one where success comes after much persistency and consistency. Perhaps the toughest would be when they started because this is the time when they do not have customers yet. Once they serve the customers well, more would refer and the rest they say is history. The top performers would be those who take home exceptional pay. All these top performers as well as their principals, the Real Estate Agents (REAs) and Real Estate Firms would be vying for the awards in the MIEA National Real Estate Awards (NREA) 2016.

NREA LogoNREA is an award to recognize the pinnacle of excellence and celebrate the outstanding achievements in the field of real estate throughout 2015. Presented annually to Real Estate Agents (REA), Real Estate Firms and Real Estate Negotiators (REN), the awards is the most anticipated event in the industry. The winners are judged by independent judges based on real estate standards. The result of the Awards will be announced at the Gala Dinner, which will be held at the Sime Darby Convention Centre on 1st October 2016. The event will be graced by Guest of Honour YB. Datuk Johari Abdul Ghani, Finance Minister II, in the presence of the President of the Board of Valuers, Appraisers and Estate Agents (BOVAEA) Datuk Faizan bin Abdul Rahman.

This is the 8th year since the advent of the first MIEA National Real Estate Awards in 2009. From only 10 categories in the inaugural year, the Awards has now increased to 19 categories in total to recognize those who excel in different areas. 31 submissions were received this year and there will be more than 20 winners to be recognized, each representing the outstanding performance in different category subsequently setting the yardstick in the industry.

Apart from the honours bestowed that night, the press coverage and national recognition they will gain through the Awards will definitely boost their business opportunities and widen their network. More importantly it will strengthen public confidence, ease the recruitment for RENs and help them gain more respect among peers.

One of the more notable awards is the Million Dollar Roof Top award, presented to Estate Agents who have in their personal capacity collected a minimum of RM 1 million in professional fees in 2015. Three recipients will be sharing the award this year which is a recognition for the top talents in the industry. Meanwhile, The Lifetime Achievement Award will also be presented to the personality that contributed significantly to the growth and development of the Real Estate Agency industry over the years.

Award sponsors included theedgeproperty.com, PropertyGuru, The Star and Mudah.my, with REM Magazine, Property Hunter, Homefinder and Property Insight as the magazine partners respectively. Nextdor Property Communications is the public relations partner.
