RM2 exchanged for RM26.3million, after over 20 years.

I dislike gamblers because I have a close friend whose family was destroyed because the father gambled so much that they had to run away from their home town to live somewhere else. Everything they had was sold and the father borrowed a lot of money from relatives too. Another friend who’s top management with an international financial institution would drop by Macao once a month and would bet US$1,000 at one go. One time, either win or lose. He said, it’s for fun. I do not think that is fun for me. Haha. Anyway, on a yearly basis, I would buy once or twice when some very friendly lottery ticket salesman approached me. So, on a yearly basis, RM6 is “invested”. I believe if I am lucky, I do not need to buy every day. For the first 5 months of this year, I have yet to buy any.
Today, I smiled when I read an exciting news article in NST today. It goes like this, One man who has been ‘investing’ non-stop for over 20 years has won RM26.4 million from Sports Toto Jackpot. He is a 50-year old company manager. He said, “I have been playing Sports Toto games ranging from Toto 6D, Power Toto 6/55, Supreme Toto 6/58, Grand Toto 6/63, Toto 4D to Toto 4D Jackpot for over 20 years and I had only won RM2,500 the most. “I never thought that my new car registration number, which I had been buying for 1 year and with my house number, would win me a whopping RM26 million.” His winning numbers? 7584 and 8899.
Do not think too much. The winner has spent over 20 years of his time and he got lucky. How many would actually get so lucky? Should people still try? Well, hope is one major reason why many are still trying. If they could still carry on a normalise and trying with just RM2 every week, I would think it’s okay. However, many people can start investing and have much more when they retire too. They can do this easily, even when they are still working. Keep dreaming but at the same time, start investing in something. Happy trying, investing or just doing nothing.
