Have you ever visited the Dragon Boat Race in the Teluk Bahang dam in Penang before? It’s an exciting race and there are normally lots of foreign rowers too. The only downside is that it is usually pretty hot and may not so suitable if you have a toddler and a baby like me. The next race was supposed to be coming, 28- 29 May 2016. Due to the dry season, it has been postponed to December 2016. More details here. Well, Teluk Bahang is now more than just a venue for a boat race. There is a potential big development by Hampshire Group as per reported in penangpropertytalk.com
Take a look at the image. This is a huge development in Teluk Bahang, Penang. It will have 2,100 residential units consisting of 1,378 affordable units in 5 towers of 30 floors, 351 terraced and semi-detached homes, 135 two-storey bungalows and 216 “super condos” in a 32-floor tower. There would also be an international school, a 4-Star hotel (25-storeys high) and a Shaolin martial arts temple. The temple will cover approximately 40,000 sq ft with a 4,800 sq ft meditation yard. All these would be built on a huge piece of cleared hill slope forest near Teluk Bahang.
Before anyone try to look for the number to call in order to book anything, do note that as per the developer, all these are still at conceptual stage and they have yet to conduct the feasibility study for the plan. For the affordable units, it is bigger than what we usually read. It’s 1,000 sq ft and would come with facilities such as swimming pools, gymnasiums. Prices would be around RM300,000 per unit. Yes, I think it is pretty attractive. The only downside would be that Teluk Bahang is not considered a primary residential area currently. We shall see if this development may change some of the mindsets of Penangites. Happy reading.
