Bukit Bintang City Centre, launching second quarter 2016

Whether you are the government of the day or a top developer or even potential property investors, what would you do to a piece of land with a prison on it? Haha. You know the answer, you move it away and redevelop the land. That’s Bukit Bintang City Centre. A joint development by UDA Holdings Bhd, Eco World Developmebt Group Bhd and Employees Provident Fund in a 40:40:20 structure. Less than a year ago, these three partners signed up as partners and it has now secured all governmental approvals for the project and Phase One will be launched in Q2 2016. The new sales gallery will showcase the world-class masterplan of BBCC.
The development sits on a plot of 19.4 acre site at the junction of Jalan Imbi and Jalan Pudu or the former Pudu Jail with gross development value (GDV) of RM8.7bil. It will comprise six blocks of serviced apartments, a retail and entertainment block, four-star and five-star hotels, branded and also serviced residences, strata and corporate offices. Phase 1 would have a combined GDV of RM4bil. It will have two blocks of serviced apartments offering 700 residential units as well as one block 45-storey strata office with 350 strata suites. These would then be served by a 1.5 million sq ft retail mall cum entertainment hub and a four-star 300-room hotel with 180 units of branded residence. Looks pretty complete on paper.
Relying on just people who drive there may not be the wisest thing to do. Thus, BBCC would have a new transit hub to serve the three-in-one LRT, Monorail and MRT services. On and off, I would take the monorail to Bukit Bintang area for lunch. I think it has served many lunch-goers very well. On a weekend though, I would prefer to drive. Perhaps this may change in the future, even for me? It’s time to drop by to understand more. Who knows it might be that project that we have been waiting in this current market slowdown? My personal wish is that this will be yet another iconic project for Kuala Lumpur. Happy viewing.
