Food, entertainment and accessibility, that’s Ipoh.

Ipoh food diversity is second to none. This is true even for the visitors from the many islands which always claim they are the best but said Ipoh is famous only for Ngar Choy Kai. Food aside, the number of flights into Ipoh are also increasing. At the last count, there are already three airlines operating and about to start operating with a fourth one aiming to start too. Read here:    Ipoh flights to Subang, JB, Medan and potentially Langkawi and Krabi  Ipoh is also in the middle of Klang Valley and Penang which can be an advantage if there are enough attractions for these visitors to stop by or even make it their usual weekend getaway.
MAPSMore importantly, Asia’s first animation theme park Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) would be opening in Ipoh, as early as March 2016. That’s just 9 months away. I could see the buildings coming up overtime I pass the Ipoh toll. It certainly looks impressive because just for the first phase alone, MAPS would already be hiring 400 employees followed by 600 in the second phase. MAPS would be featuring over 40 rides including Malaysia’s first DreamWorks Animation dedicated zone with popular animated characters like Mr Peabody and Sherman, The Croods, Megamind, and Casper the Friendly Ghost. SMURFS would also be another attraction as well. Up to 1.4 million visitors are expected within the first year of operation.
When I asked a close friend recently on some potential condos to buy, she gave me no less than names of 5 different projects. I think perhaps Ipoh is really showing some vigour after being quite a sleepy secondary city for older folks. Please do not forget that ETS now runs through Ipoh from the northern part into Klang Valley. It is also tough to get a car park during holidays or weekends at Sunway’s Lost World of Tambun. Perhaps I should tell people that Ipoh city can be Malaysia’s Happiness City. Good food, entertainment attractions and even accessibility. Happy visiting.
